R-410A refrigerant
The refrigerant used in most residential AC + heat pump systems sold from 2010 through early 2025. R-410A is being phased out for new equipment because of its high global warming potential.
What this means in Kansas City
If you have an R-410A unit installed in the last 15 years, it isn't suddenly illegal — R-410A will remain available for service for years. The transition matters mostly when you replace the outdoor unit, where new systems will be R-454B.
